Lovely Powder
"She wants to do what?" The builder said to the homeowner when told of my recommendation to paint the walls of this tiny powder room glossy black. It's a myth that dark colors always close in spaces - it depends on the space.
I designed a small curved-front vanity and finished it in a semi-gloss black stain. The flooring, wainscot and counter are creamy travertine, and the crystals in both the lighting and mirror provide a fun and dramatic sparkle around the walls.
I always encourage my clients to push their comfort zone a bit in their powder rooms: a bit of fun wallpaper, an unexpected color or piece of art on the wall, beautiful or whimsical lighting. These small spaces greet our guests and daily visitors - what more says 'welcome' than an inviting, stylish space? By the way, the homeowner loves the glossy black. |
